Flavored Coffees

One of the fastest growing areas of the coffee market is in flavored coffees. There are over 100 different flavored varieties available. Many coffee connoisseurs turn up their noses at the idea of spoiling the flavour of coffee, but there are definitely times when a chocolate or cinnamon flavoured coffee suits the occasion.

Coffee has a wonderful taste in itself, but also forms a platform for many other flavors. Flavoring coffee isn't a new trick. In Middle Eastern countries it's traditional to add cardamom to coffee, while adding cinnamon to coffee has been popular in Mexico for years.

The growth in popularity of flavored coffee is a proof of it's versatility. Flavors are added directly to the coffee beans by roasting and then spraying them with a carrier oil and the the particular flavouring. A simpler way to make a cup of flavoured coffee is to add a syrup to hot brewed coffee, this can make an ideal summer drink, served hot cold.

Milk is the most common flavoring added to coffee world wide. Milk isn't added to Arabian coffee, and coffee purists tend not to add milk, but most people find coffee to be nicer with it.
